Time Out
Now that I am a big brother, I am really starting to feel grown up. My first birthday is fast approaching and I have experienced so much in so little time. My newest experience was having to take a "time out" at day camp today. I don't go to day camp everyday but I'd still consider myself a regular. I am not sure what I did wrong but me and two of my buddies were apparently acting too crazy together and had to take this so called "time out." I am very confused by the definition of being "too crazy." Am I being crazy if I am having too much fun? I just don't get it.
Mommy said that one employee mistakenly told her that I got into a fight. I can assure you, that did not happen. I may be a big boy but I am not a bad boy. When Mommy told Daddy about my time out, he was not pleased. He could not believe that I had been sent to day camp only to spend my playtime in time out. I couldn't agree more and I am happy to have my Daddy on my side.
Aside from "getting in trouble" today, I have been trying to figure out this brother role. I am still not 100% sure about my brother taking all my things but apparently I have to learn to share. Boo. I suppose the nicest thing I did today was snuggle on Mommy's lap with him. This seemed to make both Mommy and Daddy happy. I'll try to keep it up!

Big Brother
I'm a big brother!

I thought Mommy was kidding when she was talking to me about a little brother yesterday. But to my surprise, three black puppies invaded our house today! Mommy let me pick my brother and I think I made the right choice. As exciting as this is, it probably will take some time to get used to the new situation. Sharing my toys and sharing Mommy and Daddy is not easy. Hopefully it gets easier! In the meantime, I have to work on not being rough with Geordi and need to watch where my paws land on his face. As long as he knows that I am the big brother, everything will be just fine.

Day Camp x 2
I am exhausted.
I never realized how hard it was to go to day camp twice in one week. Usually, I attend day camp once a week. But Mommy had a coupon this week so I got to go again today. Most of my buddies weren't there today but it was still a blast. Four hours of non-stop playing is not an easy task!

Stress

I am feeling really stressed. Mommy and Daddy don't seem too sympathetic to the cause of my stress but I suppose only a dog could understand my frustration. Random squeaks, high pitched sounds from the opening of the washer, the constant thumping of the upstairs neighbors... it drives me crazy. Even the quietest gasp of excitement from Mommy and Daddy during a Blackhawks goal gets me going. I can't explain it and I suppose that is part of the frustration.
Because I am constantly on edge about sounds, Mommy and Daddy are becoming worried. They learned that holding me as Mommy does when I go crazy only reinforces my behavior. So then I started getting in trouble when I would freak out. I am so confused and I wish I could stop hearing things. The only good thing that has come out of this is that Daddy has now turned every Blackhawks goal into a treat for me. I am certain this is his way of distracting me from the stress I experience.
Sometimes I feel crazy. I have no reason to be stressed. My days are easy and I am loved. Mommy often worries that my level of stress can be harmful to my health. What could be causing this? Here are my theories:
- Maybe I have sensitive ears.
- I'm going through puberty. This could be the underlying reason to my craziness.
- I'm just a high strung and crazy dog.

Winter Wear
I have mixed feelings about the winter. I really like playing in the snow, but I really don't like the cold weather. The cold weather also means that my outside time is limited and sometimes non-existing. As much as I love lounging around the house, staying inside all day makes me feel slightly crazed. Luckily, we had a warm week in the 40s and Mommy and I have been going on walks and playing in the snow.
Going outside is great, but during the winter it comes with a lot of preparation. Mommy starts off by putting rubber booties on me. I gave her some trouble when we first tried on the booties but I have accepted that they are necessary and let her put them on. They feel pretty funny and are pretty embarrassing. Every time we go outside, it's the first thing people notice. Mommy is constantly being stopped during our walks and my booties are almost always the topic of conversation. After the booties, I have to wear my fleece camo warmie (thanks Chad and Doger!). Then comes the harness and my water and wind-proof jacket. By the time we're ready to go out, I have on a bazillion layers of clothing.
Even though I do a lot of complaining, I am grateful that Mommy gets me ready. If it wasn't for all the layers and protection, I wouldn't last very long in the cold. For those who live in California, consider yourselves lucky! Winter clothing is pretty uncool.
