My First Trip to Lake Michigan

I went to the lake for the very first time today! We had to walk three blocks to the lake from our house, but time flies when you're having fun stopping every ten seconds looking at everything around you! Actually, I prefer to start my walks by having Daddy carry me. I feel like a king, and there is no better way to travel. I hope Daddy continues to carry me when I am a big boy. Eventually Daddy put me down. He said something about me having to learn how to walk on a leash.

When I got to the lake, I discovered an entire area of what I thought was food! Mommy and Daddy kept telling me not to eat the rocks, but I could not resist! Miles and miles of free food (rocks)? The lake is doggy heaven! Mommy had to put me on her lap because I could not stop burying my face in the sand while chewing on the rocks. She complained about me being dirty and having sand all over my face. I didn't mind.

Ethan was my swimming buddy! The water was really cold, and the movement of the water frightened me. Ethan made it in much farther than I could. It doesn't help when Mommy is freaking out about me going in too deep and drowning. Daddy says it is fine and that Mommy is a big worry wart, whatever that is. I eventually just sat on the sand watching Ethan while eating rocks when Mommy and Daddy weren't looking.

By the end of our trip to the lake, I was much better about getting wet. I was still afraid, but at least I put my paws in the water! I hope to make Daddy happy by being a pug that can swim someday!

Guess what? I pooped on our way back home! Mommy and Daddy kept saying what a good boy I was and I got a treat! Maybe I should poop outside more often. I wonder why Mommy doesn't give me treats when I poop in her room?

Something really scary happened on our walk back home. Ethan and I were walking together when a kid on a bike was sprinting towards us. Mommy told us to watch out before he got near us, but the boy tried to sprint through us on the sidewalk and almost fell off his bike while running into me and Ethan. I was really scared. Daddy yelled at the kid and told him bikes don't belong on the sidewalk, especially when you're going that fast. The kid responded by saying that we didn't get out of his way. It looked like Daddy was going to beat up the boy. I felt so protected by Daddy and I know how much he loves and cares for me. Luckily both Ethan and I were okay but we were all shaken up by the accident. Daddy carried me the rest of the way home and now I am ready for a nap!
